Yat Fu Lane

On the corner of Queens Road West & Yat Fu Lane, an existing concrete structure is reworked to create a series of light filled commercial tenancies and street frontage occupations for the busy hospitality operators of Kennedy Town.

The project builds from the rawness of the existing structure and brings in materials and design directions referenced from the surrounding area.

A sculptural open stair has been laid in to the Yat Fu Lane frontage as an invitation to upper level occupations. This creates an intriguing vertical series of spaces threaded among the existing frame shaped in a continuous surface of weathered corten steel.

Fine operable glazing is introduced between the stripped back existing concrete frames, bringing a sense of light and openness to the high volumes and exposed structure.

Project Details: The commercial floor area is approximately 1500m2 and construction is projected for completion toward the end of 2017. Fearon Hay’s project team is led by Doug Weir. Tim Hay and Jeff Fearon are the design architects.
